A mother of two parted ways with her boyfriend after he requested her to cover his electricity bill merely days following a date at a restaurant of her choosing.?
Pennsylvania resident Kendra Roxberry selected an upscale seafood restaurant, assuming her partner could afford it.
She recounted how they each ordered a seafood boil at the seafood restaurant and indulged in a few drinks before he generously covered the entire bill.??
Despite him footing the bill amounting to Rs 20,610?(converted to INR)?at the restaurant, his subsequent request for Rs 31,098 to settle his electricity dues left Kendra taken aback.
His message, which read, "I figured it wouldn't be an issue since I paid for your seafood boil lol," further irked her.
Kendra recalled that although her partner had initially assured her not to worry about the restaurant expenses, she had selected the venue accordingly.?
Upon receiving his message, Kendra responded the next day with a concise, "Lol¡really? I'm not sure this is going to work out. Good luck!" before promptly blocking his number.
Kendra has reportedly connected with the man on Tinder, sparking a week-long conversation before embarking on a series of dates.
Reflecting on the incident, Kendra remarked that she appreciated learning about his "toxic" traits before the relationship progressed further. She emphasised that while she wasn't indifferent to his financial situation, she found it distasteful that he leveraged their date to demand money from her.
Kendra's anecdotal Facebook post, made on the same day, has since garnered over 400 comments, with many expressing bafflement at the audacious request of the man.
One commenter remarked, "'I'd be asking why he got you a $200 seafood boil when he had bills to pay? That doesn't sound like your problem.'"
Another concurred, stating, "'You should laugh react and never talk to him again. Shouldn't have paid for the boil if he had bills to pay.'"
A third humorously suggested, "'Tell him you have a better idea and send him 376 glow sticks.'"
