The Eiffel Tower is undoubtedly the most recognizable monument in Paris, the host city of the Olympics 2024. Initially, the Eiffel Tower had a "Venetian red" paint, which turned into "ochre brown" in 1892. In 1899, a coat of five colors in shaded tones from yellow-orange was used to paint the Eiffel Tower. It was also in 1899 that it was decided the Eiffel Tower would be repainted every seven years.
But between 1907 and 1954, the Eiffel Tower had the same color, which was called "yellow-brown." Between 1954 and 1961, the Eiffel Tower had a new color scheme called "brownish-red." Since 1968, the Eiffel Tower had the ¡°Eiffel Tower Brown¡± color.

For the Paris Olympics 2024, the Eiffel Tower underwent arguably the most extensive paint job in its history. After well over half a century, the Eiffel Tower got a new hue, starting in 2021. The golden color, which Gustave Eiffel had originally chosen for the Eiffel Tower, replaced the ¡°Eiffel Tower Brown¡± after 19 previous coats of paint were removed.
This most detailed paintwork in its history did not come cheap and cost the French a whopping $60 million.?
While fans will get a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower, winning athletes in Paris will quite literally get a piece of it. Metal pieces used for the original construction of the Eiffel Tower, which were later removed and conserved during restoration, have been repurposed to make the medals for the winners in Olympic competitions.
