Shlomi Ziv, an Israeli man who was among the hundreds of hostages the Palestinian militant group Hamas had taken during their October 7 attack, has recalled his time in captivity. According to Ziv, who was rescued by the IDF in June this year as part of the IDF's 'Operation Arnon', at night, they would hear screams of people being beaten up.??
¡°There were quiet nights in captivity when you could hear every little sound, and then suddenly, you¡¯d hear someone getting beaten, just like you see here. It was chilling to hear the screams of that one being beaten to death,¡± Ziv said while responding to a video on X.?

The 41-year-old was kidnapped by Hamas militants on October 7, 2023, from the Nova Music Festival, where he worked as a security guard.??
He, along with three others, Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, and Andrey Kozlov, were rescued in Operation Arnon, jointly launched by Yamam, Israel's National Counter-Terrorism Unit, the Shin Bet, the Israel Security Agency, and the Israel Defense Forces, with intelligence support from the United States in the Nuseirat refugee camp on 8 June 2024.??
According to Israel, 251 Israelis and foreigners were taken during the 7 October attacks. As of August 2024, 117 hostages had been returned alive to Israel.
A total of 97 hostages remain unaccounted for after being kidnapped by Hamas. In August 2024, the IDF confirmed that 35 of the hostages taken on October 7 are known to have died.
