A Tesla ended up inside a California family's home after the driver lost control, hitting an embankment and causing the vehicle to soar through a nearby yard, driveway, and over a swimming pool before colliding into the kitchen of another home.
San Mateo police were called to the residential area after the 70-year-old woman driver's Tesla Model X crashed into the home. Miraculously, no one was injured, the police said in a statement.
According to SFGATE, the elderly driver and her 40-year-old daughter's Tesla flew over the swimming pool for about 40 to 50 feet in the air before landing in the home's kitchen.
According to the New York Post, the crash occurred on Friday morning in Murphy and Ashwood Drives in California.?
Taking to Facebook, the San Mateo Police Department shared multiple images of the crash. "This morning a driver lost control of her vehicle and drove into a house. Thankful no one was hurt in this collision," cops wrote in the caption.

Surratt said the exact cause of the crash is still being investigated. "The driver stated that she was unfamiliar with driving this car and has not driven in about a year," Surratt added. "The driver stated there might have been an issue with the car. [Witnesses] of the collision said the vehicle was driving slowing, then rapidly accelerated before the collision." Authorities were told the car was not in self-driving mode.?
The mother and daughter, who have not been identified at this time, remained at the scene, per SFGATE and NBC affiliate KNTV. No one was home at the time of the incident.
