This tree was cut in half due to a dispute between neighbors, now it is a tourist attraction
They say that you can choose your friends, but not your neighbors, and Bharat Mistry from Sheffield, England, learned it the hard way after he was dragged into a bitter border dispute with the couple next door. Mistry was involved in a year-long border dispute with his neighbors, Irene and Graham Lee, which came to a head in 2021, when the couple chopped off the branches of a tree on their side of the border.
Tree cut in half
The 16-foot-tall fig tree had stood outside their homes for 25 years, but it became a bone of contention between the neighbors. According to Mistry, the Lee couple was angered because birds had been nesting there and damaging their driveway with droppings. So, in 2021, the Lees cut the branches on their side, leaving it looking empty. But their actions unintentionally made it a tourist attraction of sorts.

Viral photos attract tourists?
According to British media reports, the tree, located in the suburb of Waterthorpe, started attracting visitors after photos of it went viral. The tree has been tagged as a tourist attraction on Google Maps, and visitors have left reviews.
"Interesting tree that was cut in half due to a feud between the two neighbors. The story was also over the news and was interesting to visit the location and see the news turn into real life. Google Street View is not updated since 10 years ago, so you can actually see the original tree before it was cut off. Not worth driving a long distance, but if you were nearby, it's worth paying a visit," one of the Google reviews read.

Half-cut tree becomes a landmark?
Three years after the tree was cut in half, it still manages to attract visitors and has become a landmark of sorts. According to some neighbors, the two families are still not on talking terms.
