A Maryland resident has recently shared his unsettling experience staying at a high-priced Airbnb, labeling it as the "nightmarish Airbnb."

Doty's TikTok clip, which has garnered a staggering 7,50,000 views, begins with an unapologetic declaration: "We are currently staying at an Airbnb that might be the most pathetic excuse for a house that I've ever stayed at in my life." What followed was a litany of bizarre and unsettling revelations that have left viewers astounded.?
At first glance, the San Diego property appeared to be an opulent five-bedroom, five-bathroom mansion, listed for a jaw-dropping $4.9 million on Zillow. Doty and his friends were lured in to attend a friend's wedding, shelling out $1,250 per night for the experience. The property even boasted an impressive average rating of 4.78 out of 5 on Airbnb before mysteriously vanishing from the platform, as reported by Insider.
However, the reality was a far cry from what the listing promised. Doty exposed the house's first grievance ¨C the owners had partitioned the mansion, with one group placed in one half and Doty's group in the other.
But the shocker came when he realised that the house didn't actually have five bedrooms. The "first bedroom" turned out to be in the garage, an area that reeked of gasoline and lacked proper ventilation and smoke detectors.Adding to the surreal nature of their stay, the owners had placed a crib in the garage room, as if encouraging guests to enjoy the aroma of car exhaust while they slept. The situation became even more absurd as Doty revealed that the room had no outlets, forcing one of his friends to sleep on the couch instead.
The house's horrors didn't end there. Doty's friends chimed in with their "favourite" discoveries: a toilet that wasn't attached to a wall so it was essentially reclining, shower knobs that came off when twisted, and a $25-per-day air conditioning unit locked in a box until renters paid the homeowner online.
The agony continued in the kitchen, where the oven apparently took hours to heat up, and the shower required 12-and-a-half minutes to produce hot water. Even the floors, made of black slate, left their marks on the guests' feet, as if they had been wandering through a coal mine.
Doty's sardonic assessment of the experience summed it up perfectly: "All this could be yours for $5 million and a lifetime supply of anti-depressants."
How has AirBnb reacted?
In response to the viral TikTok, Airbnb issued a statement to The New York Post, "In the rare case a listing isn't as advertised, our AirCover protection for guests provides support with refunds and another place to stay, and we take action on issues brought to our attention. As no issues had been reported to us by these guests, we have contacted them to look into their experience and offer our support."
The company said that Doty has not reached out to them regarding the allegedly appalling accommodation.
Who is responsible?
The host of the Airbnb, known as Scott, refuted Doty's allegations according to Insider, claiming that there was no "garage bed" and that the group had the oven on the wrong setting, and that there was the requisite number of outlets in every room.
