US Presidential Election 2024: Julia Louis-Dreyfus to host panel with women governors at Democratic National Convention
Actress and comedian Julia Louis-Dreyfus will host a panel with women governors from the Democratic Party during the Democratic National Convention, which will be held from 19-22 August in Chicago, Illinois.?The DNC will also see Vice President Kamala Harris and her newly selected running mate, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, address the delegates. President Joe Biden, who dropped out of the race last month and nominated Harris for the post, is also expected to speak.

However, unlike previous DNCs, there will be no formal confirmation of the Democratic Party candidates for the US Presidential elections. That is because Harris and Walz have already been officially nominated through an online roll-call vote.
First on-screen US Vice President to host panel at DNC
Among the several speeches and panels scheduled for the DNC, one of them featuring all eight female Democratic governors—Arizona's Governor Katie Hobbs, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly, Maine Governor Janet Mills, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and Oregon Governor Tina Kotek—will be hosted by Louis-Dreyfus, who played the first fictional female vice president of the United States on HBO’s Emmy-winning “Veep.”
Louis-Dreyfus and her character in Veep, Selina Meyer, have seen a resurgence in popularity following Harris's nomination as the Democratic candidate for the US Presidential Elections.
US Election race to enter final leg
The DNC will be the last major stop on the road to the US Presidential Elections scheduled for November 2024. The Republican National Convention (RNC) was held in Milwaukee in July, where Donald Trump was officially nominated as the GOP's presidential candidate.

Democrats have momentum?
The Democrats, who were trailing far behind Republicans in the initial days of the campaign, are going into the DNC with much more momentum on their side.
President Biden's refusal to step aside and his disastrous performance at the first Presidential debate had many diehard Democrats convinced that November was an easy walkover for Trump. However, Biden, finally giving in to pressure and nominating Harris for the post, has re-energized the party at the grassroots level. The incumbent Vice President has not only reduced the gap with Trump but has managed to overtake him in the latest opinion polls.
