In a tragic incident in Morrisville, North Carolina, an Indian woman, Priyanka Tiwari, has been charged with the murder of her 10-year-old son. After Tiwari called 911 to report that her son was unresponsive, the police found the young boy's decomposing body.
According to Morrisville Police Chief Pete Acosta, this was not the first time the police had received calls regarding Tiwari's residence. Welfare checks were conducted several times, including a visit in March during a mental health crisis.
On December 20, Tiwari made a distress call to 911, leading the police to her home on Craigmeade Drive. Upon arrival, they found the son's body in an advanced state of decomposition, indicating possible starvation.?
Attempts to perform CPR were futile, and the police observed a significant weight loss in the boy over the month before his death.
An autopsy is underway to determine the exact cause of death. The arrest warrant alleges that Tiwari "unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did of malice aforethought kill and murder (her son)."?
Chief Acosta mentioned that the police had responded to the residence eight times since March for welfare checks initiated by concerned relatives, often from India.
Further details reveal that Tiwari's husband had a domestic violence protective order against her, and he left the house with police assistance.?
Tiwari, deemed mentally unfit, was taken into custody on December 21.?
She faces charges of first-degree murder and negligent child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
A brief court hearing was held, and Tiwari is held without bail until her next hearing on January 22. The tragic incident has left the community in shock as authorities continue their investigation.
