Tubby won the title of 'world's greenest dog' after entering the Guinness World Records for sniffing out 26,000 plastic bottles in 2011. The labrador made two trips a day and crushed his finds with his mouth.
The dog, who hailed from Torfaen in the UK, passed away at the age of 13 in London this Tuesday.

According to BBC, Tubby would find the bottles and deliver them to his owner Sandra Gilmore for recycling. Sandra believes that Tubby actually collected over 50,000 discarded bottles in his lifetime. The dog loved his bottles more than any other plaything dogs generally tend to like.

According to a Guinness World Records representative, "It was a pleasure to have Tubby feature in the book. It was a unique record and we are honoured to have been able to verify his achievement in the community."
For Sandra, Tubby was nothing short of a hero for the local community. "He had friends all over the world. He didn't let it all go to his head though as he was always the keenest, greenest recycling canine around with the smallest carbon paw print ever," she added.
