The Ram Temple in Ayodhya is proposed to be built using donations from devotees across the country and abroad. In 2013, Narendra Modi, the then Gujarat Chief Minister had made a similar appeal to the farmers across the country to donate iron tools for the construction of the Statue of Unity.Under the Loha Campaign, a total of 135 tonnes of iron was collected from around 700,000 villages across India and melted down for the construction of the Sardar Patel statue.?
The Supreme Court had on November 9, in a historic ruling gave the disputed land to the Hindus and said that Muslims will be given alternate land, thus ending the case that had lingered for decades. It had also said that a Central Government should set up a trust within three months for the construction of the temple.?
Even though it has not been officially confirmed yet, the proposed temple at the site where Hindus believe that Lord Ram was born will be built on the model designed by renowned architect Chandrakant Sompura.?
He had designed the temple on the behest of the then VHP chief Ashok Singhal in 1989 and was later approved by saints during the Allahabad Kumbh in the early 1990s.?
The VHP had last month said that the constriction of the temple will being on Ram Navami, which is in April. Sompura had said that he was confident that the construction can be completed in two-and-a-half years.
As per Sompura's design, the main structure of the temple will be 270 feet long, 145 feet wide and 141 feet high with 251 pillars and is designed in the Nagara style, largely prevalent in the western part of the country.??
