KL Rahul was in superb form in the 2nd ODI vs Australia as he smashed 80 in 52 balls to send the Aussies running for cover. It was a mixture of brute strength and class as he smashed the ball with ease to all parts.
Not that it should come as a surprise. When it comes to all formats, Rahul is the man for the job. The fact that he can keep and is doing so in the absence of Rishabh Pant is an added bonus,? ?
We have seen him play in the IPL, we have seen him play in T20Is and of course play Tests. He can bat where the team wants him - open the inning, top order or as he displayed in Rajkot, the middle order as well.
His explosive knock helped us amass 340/6, win the game by 36 runs and now the series is 1-1.??
Needless to say, he was delighted.
"I couldn't have asked for a better start. Each day I've been thrown different roles and responsibilities and I'm enjoying it for now," he said.?
"Batting at No 5, I wanted to give myself a few balls, you know what the wicket is doing and Virat said that it's coming on nicely. A few came off the middle, and I was confident I could score, and everything else faded away. Glad I got some partnerships going and played my role to the best of my abilities," he added.?
His knocks in different formats prove he deserves to be in the side. One hopes he can carry that form forward.
He has always been a team man and put up his hand whenever needed. A true asset to the Men in Blue.?
