Of all the bizarre reasons that could rule you out of cricket, being scratched by a monkey is the most wildest of it.?
Apparently, Australia opener Jake Fraser-McGurk suffered a bizarre injury during a team outing and will now have to return back home from the U-19 World Cup in South Africa.?
"You never like to be leaving the boys with the tournament still in progress. But I'm confident we have the team to get the job done in the final two matches.
"I guess it serves me right for getting too close to the animal enclosure. That's a lesson learned. I look forward to completing the treatment and getting back on the field as soon as possible," McGurk said in an official statement.
"I would like to thank all the staff from the nature reserve and Cricket Australia for their care and support," he added.
Fraser-McGurk was run-out off the very first ball of his team's 234 run chase against India in the quarterfinals.? ??
Australia suffered a 74-run defeat against India, getting bowled out for 159 while chasing 234 for victory. Australia have played 3 matches so far out of which they have lost 2 while their lone victory came against the Nigerian U-19 team in Kimberley.
Australia will now take on the loser of Pakistan-Afghanistan match in the 5th playoff semi-final two.
