Drew McIntyre made his surprise return to WWE RAW on Monday when he laid out Bloodline member Sami Zayn after the main event. The Scottish Warrior had been missing from TV since his loss to CM Punk in a Hell in a Cell match at the Bad Blood PPV.
While there were reports that McIntyre was close to returning, his appearance on this week's edition of RAW took many by surprise. Now, new details have emerged about McIntyre's RAW return.
According to Fightful Select, WWE Creative brought forward McIntyre's RAW return by a few weeks due to Bronson Reed¡¯s injury at Survivor Series: WarGames.
Reed, who was part of the New Bloodline for the WarGames match against the Original Bloodline, suffered an injury while attempting a splash from the top of the cage.
Reed delivered a risky Tsunami Splash from the top of the cage on Roman Reigns, who was saved in the nick of time by CM Punk. This resulted in Reed crash-landing on the table, injuring one, if not both, of his ankles.
The extent of Reed's injury and how long he would miss in-ring action is not clear at the moment. According to Dave Meltzer, Reed only injured his right ankle, rather than doing damage to both, as many had feared earlier.
PWInsider also reported that McIntyre¡¯s return was brought forward several weeks from when it was originally planned due to Reed¡¯s injury.
Reed, along with Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, and Tanga Loa, was part of the New Bloodline that took on the Original Bloodline at Survivor Series: WarGames. Though he is not a member of The Bloodline, Reed was brought into the mix by Sikoa as a backup.
