As reported by multiple media outlets, the families met on February 16 in Aligarh to discuss and finalize the matrimonial alliance. Tufani Saroj, Priya's father and a three-time MP currently serving as the MLA from Kerakat, confirmed that while no formal engagement ceremony has taken place yet, meaningful discussions were held. He added that the families exchanged "shagun" (symbolic gifts) to solidify the agreement.?
According to Tufani Saroj, the two met through a mutual friend and over the past year, have developed a close relationship and sought their families' blessings for the marriage. The engagement ceremony will be held in Lucknow, with dates to be announced after the Parliament session.?
Hailing from Karkhiyaon village in Varanasi, Priya comes from a politically active family. Her father, Tufani Saroj, a senior Samajwadi Party leader, has been instrumental in shaping her political journey. She is currently serving as a Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh's Machhlishahr constituency. At just 25 years old, she made history in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as the youngest woman MP, defeating BJP's BP Saroj by a significant margin of 35,850 votes.?
