Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), and Total Nonstop Action (TNA) heavyweight champion Bobby Lashley on Thursday made his All Elite Wrestling (AEW) debut. Lashley made his first appearance on the Tony Khan-owned promotion on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, nearly three months after he left WWE.
Lashley, accompanied by MVP, came face-to-face with former AEW champion Swerve Strickland in his first appearance on the show. The former US Army man is likely to kickstart his AEW career with a feud against Strickland.
The 48-year-old, who was last seen on TV in May this year, had recently claimed that WWE was "burying" him on the way out, despite consistently strong crowd reactions.
¡°That¡¯s when I got to the end of my career. I mean, when things changed, and it was like I got pulled off of a lot of things, and I was like, okay, you can pull me off, but I said just as long as I get a second on TV¡ Any time when I walked out, ¡®Bobby! Bobby!¡¯ The crowd went crazy. I was like, man, they¡¯re trying to bury me as much as they can,¡± he had said.
Lashley made his WWE debut in 2005 and had an undefeated streak until 2006 when he was defeated by JBL. Lashley was also a one-time ECW champion before he left WWE in 2008. After a brief stint in Japan and Mexico, Lashley made his way into TNA in 2009 but left the company a year later.
Lashley returned to TNA in 2014 and continued with the company until his departure in 2018 as a four-time world champion. After leaving TNA, Lashley went back to WWE, where he became the heavyweight champion in 2020.
