Even as the Virat Kohli vs Sachin Tendulkar debate heats up, we have forgotten one man who is slowly inching towards the Master Blaster's records in Test cricket.

Alastair Cook recently became the youngest player to score 10,000 Test runs. With that, he shattered Tendulkar's record of 11 years. Now he has two milestones ahead of him.
Cook is the only active player who is close to Tendulkar's tally of 15,921 runs. With 10,615, he needs a little over 5000 runs. Also with 134 games, he is the closest to Tendulkar's all-time record of 200 matches among those still playing.

And yet, despite him so close, we have hardly noticed him as her nears his target. Well that's Cook for you, no hype, just gets the job done.?
How soon can he break the record for most Tests? Well fitness and form permitting in another 4 to 5 years. England play the most Tests in a year so 67 games should be covered in no time. Remember, he will turn just 32 in a couple of months, so time is on his side.

And it shall be time that will prove if he can break the records. While his average is much lower than Tendulkar, things can change in a blink of an eye.
For the moment, he is Test cricket's best bet to go the distance and break the master's records. He has the talent and skill, now it remains to be seen if he has the will.
