16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena, who is in the twilight of his in-ring career, has confirmed his participation in an upcoming major pay-per-view. WWE on Wednesday said that Cena will be a part of the Elimination Chamber in Toronto on Saturday, 1 March.
"The time is NOW! Don't miss John Cena's last time ever in Toronto at Elimination Chamber," WWE said.
This will be Cena's first Elimination Chamber match since 2018. Cena has been a part of seven Elimination Chamber matches, winning it three times 每 in 2006, 2010, and 2011.
The 47-year-old Cena, who just wrapped up the shoot of Peacemaker 2, is all set to kickstart his retirement tour in 2025. Cena, arguably one of the most popular yet polarising figures in WWE, had earlier this month confirmed his participation in another major pay-per-view next year 每 the Royal Rumble. The leader of the Cenation will also be a part of WWE's Netflix debut on 6 January. Cena is also expected to be a part of WrestleMania 41 in April 2025.
Cena, who made his WWE debut in 2002, announced in July this year that he will be retiring from wrestling in 2025.
"I am retiring in 2025, and I start that farewell tour in January, and I*ll end it in December. It*s gonna be right around 36 dates, around the world, to pay thanks and gratitude to the WWE audiences around the world. So that*s what I*m doing in 2025,§ Cena had said.
Cena, who is currently tied with Ric Flair, with both winning 16 World Championships each, will leave WWE as one of the most successful, if not the most successful, wrestlers of all time.
