The Anil Kumble chapter is closed. It is now time to turn over a new leaf.
Well even as the BCCI looks to find a new coach for the team, the concept of a playing mentor is one that could be considered.

So if we were to have a playing coach, who would it be? Well the answer is obvious - MS Dhoni!
The man had experience to mentor as a side and since he is not skipper anymore, the extra pressure of leading ?the side is not on his shoulders.

With over 450 international games for the country and the experience of leading them for almost decade, Dhoni is the man to guide the youngsters of the side. He has the confidence of skipper Virat Kohli and the tips he provides prove to be valuable.
He is already a mentor of sorts in the team when he gives them direction on the field. If he became coach it would only confirm his position in what he does.

There is a downside though, as a conflict of interest could occur when his own form is in dispute or certain tough decisions need to be taken.
Be as it may, Dhoni is the best candidate for the dual role. BCCI may not go along with it, but they should at least consider it as thinking out of the box does help in these matters.
