Virender Sehwag has an appetite for big scores, and of that, there is no doubt. When he scores a Test ton, he generally tries to go much further.

Two triple hundreds and four double centuries prove that the man likes to pile on the runs. In fact, he once came very close to creating history.
In the 3rd Test against Sri Lanka in Mumbai in 2009, Sehwag almost became the first player to score three triple hundreds. The only other person who came close was Don Bradman who made 299 not out.

Sehwag already had 2 triple tons and was looking in good touch for a third. After Sri Lanka had been bundled out for 393, Sehwag bludgeoned the visitors as the ball continued going in all directions. In fact, his partners looked pedestrian in ?comparison.
But it would be a case of so near yet so far. Just 7 short of the epic landmark, he fell to Muttiah Muralitharan for 293. His innings came in 254 balls with 40 fours and 7 sixes.
The man may have missed a triple hundred, but the innings was a grim reminder to the bowlers of what carnage he can unleash when in full flow. It certainly ranks as one of his most brutal knocks. Indian fans remember it and Sri Lankans, well try as they might, they won't forget it in a hurry.
