Australia had set India 360 to win and the hosts needed a win to level the series. Kohli came out to bat with the score of 176 after openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan had given them the ideal start.
What followed was a rampage the Aussies were simply not ready for. The ball blazed away to the boundary rope and at times was too quick for the camera.
Kohli was batting like a man possessed and kept the pressure on Australia at all times.

India cruised to a 9-wicket win and Kohli finished not out on 100 in 52 balls. His innings contained 8 fours and 7 sixes.
This was the fastest ODI hundred by an Indian as he went past Virender Sehwag's 60-ball ton against New Zealand in 2009.
Greater things followed from his bat in the years to come, but that day he certainly showed early signs that he was in it for the long haul.
