WWE has announced that Drew McIntyre will face Sami Zayn on Saturday Night's Main Event on 14 December. The face-off, which was widely anticipated, was announced after Zayn called out McIntyre on Monday Night RAW, promising to see him at Saturday Night's Main Event this weekend.
Earlier, Zayn had settled his differences with Seth Rollins in the ring on RAW, after which 'The Visionary' suggested the Original Bloodline member should take care of his issues with McIntyre.
The Scottish Warrior, who did not answer Zayn, responded by blindsiding him and attacking him as he was leaving the ring. The two also went at each other in front of RAW General Manager Adam Pearce.
McIntyre, who had been absent from the ring since his Hell in a Cell match against CM Punk, made a surprise return to RAW last week, taking out Zayn. Later, it was revealed that McIntyre was the one who attacked Jey Uso.
Explaining his actions, McIntyre said he took out Zayn and Uso for joining hands with Roman Reigns once again. The duo, along with Punk, were part of Reigns's 'Original Bloodline' that took on the New Bloodline at Survivor Series.
According to McIntyre, while Punk took a bribe, the others sold out for nothing. He said that this moment was when he knew he had to come back to take out Zayn and Uso. McIntyre stated that he could not change the past, but he could change the present and the future.
The WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series saw three of the participants¡ªBronson Reed, Jimmy Uso, and Tonga Loa¡ªgetting injured. Last week, WWE confirmed that Reed and Uso will be out of action indefinitely due to their injuries.
