Lucknow recently saw its first electric bus being flagged off by urban development minister, Suresh Kumar Khanna as a part of a plan of 40 such buses to be run in the city within the next four months. Following this, the UP state government might be bringing this service to other cities in the state as well.
A proposal has recently been put across by the Agra-Mathura city transport service limited to the state government for this. In addition, the authority has also selected spaces for electric bus depots at Runakta.
As per the state government¡¯s plan, 100 electric buses will be deployed between the two cities under the eco sensitive Taj Trapezium Zone (TTZ). Besides these, the plan extends to cover other cities in the state, including Kanpur, Prayagraj, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Saharanpur with the services of these electric buses.
