Is Vine about to make a comeback? The short-form video service allowed users to post six-second-long video clips and was acquired by Twitter before its launch in 2013.
Slowly, creators started to leave Vine for alternatives like Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat, forcing Twitter to discontinue the app.
Now that Twitter is owned by SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk, Vine might just make a comeback. But we wouldn't get our hopes up just yet. Elon Musk held a poll on Twitter on October 31, asking users if they'd want Vine back. It received 4.9 million votes, with 69.6% people voting yes and 30.4% voting no.
?According to Axios, Musk has now asked Twitter engineers to bring back Vine. Sources believe that the app could be revived before the end of this year.?
Musk has already asked engineers to assess the code, which has remained untouched service the service shut down in 2016. According to one source quoted by Apple Insider, "it needs a lot of work."

While Twitter may have given up on Vine too soon, Elon Musk could bring it back. At the same time, it will not be easy given the market competition.
Besides bringing back Vine, Musk is orchestrating a series of changes of Twitter. For starters, he wants to bring verification badges in the ambit of Twitter's monthly paid service, Twitter Blue, and raise the prices to $19.99 per month.
