Bharti Airtel has announced that it successfully conducted India's first 5G trials in the 700MHz band, teaming up with telecom hardware giant Nokia.

The trials were conducted on the outskirts of Kolkata, which was also the first 5G trials to be conducted in the eastern part of our nation.?
Airtel has also reported that its hardware has allowed the network to reach high-speed wireless internet across a 40-kilometre coverage area. This was between two 3GPP standard 5G sites in real-life conditions. The hardware that made this possible included Nokia AirScale radios and standalone core.?

Airtel was one of the first to test its 5G speeds in India in June and in its testing that was conducted at Cyber Hub, Gurgaon, we saw speeds of up to 1,000Mbps, operating at the 3500MHz spectrum allotted as per the Department of Telecommunications guidelines.?
