After a year full of leaks and rumours, Apple has finally unveiled the iPhone 11 series -- the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max. And the phones are almost exactly what the leaks had tipped.
Starting with the cheapest iPhone of the year, iPhone 11 features a 6.1-inch Retina LCD display (just like the iPhone XR). We were hoping to see an OLED panel on this, which would have come in really handy with the Dark Mode on iOS 13 to improve battery life. The iPhone 11 also gets spacial audio with support for Dolby Atmos.?
Under the hood, we're getting Apple's latest and greatest A13 Bionic hexa-core processor.?
The device retains the glass design from the previously unveiled iPhones, however, at the back you get a dual-camera setup (which is an upgrade from the single-camera setup on the XR) with dual 12-megapixel sensors. The secondary camera is an ultra-wide shooter to bring wider field of view. The camera will show wide shots in real-time so users can switch to the ultra-wide mode if they want to.
Apple also brings night mode on iPhone 11 that switches as soon as it senses darkly lit conditions. In video, users can switch to ultra-wide mode in real time and can shoot up to 4K at 60fps. They've also made improvements with stabilisation.?
Apple has upgraded the ISP on the iPhone 11 bringing features like Smart HDR, multi-tone skin mapping to click great photos. The second camera also acts as a depth sensor to create realistic bokeh.?
You also get a 12-megapixel selfie shooter with support for 4K 60fps video recording as well as slow-mo videos.
Coming to the Pros on this team, iPhone 11 Pro is featuring a similar 5.8-inch OLED screen, whereas iPhone 11 Pro Max gets a larger 6.5-inch OLED display. Both display supports HDR along with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
The glass back comes in a matte finish and in a bunch of new colours including Midnight Green, Space Grey and a new Gold colour variant.
Internally, both the iPhones are running on Apple's A13 processor. They include brand new machine learning accelerators for better operation.?
A major difference between the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pros is with the camera setup at the back. Apple has made our worst fears come true and include the hideous square-camera module at the back, with the triple camera setup with triple 12-megapixel shooters with a primary wide, telephoto and a 120-degree ultra-wide shooter.?
All the three iPhones also get an upgraded Face ID setup that is faster and more secure than the previous generation. Moreover, you can also charge your AirPods or another iPhone wirelessly by placing it on the back of an iPhone 11.?
The cheapest iPhone off the lot is the iPhone 11. It'll be made available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB models in purple, green, yellow, black, white and PRODUCT(RED) starting at Rs 64,900.? This is Rs 12,000 cheaper than last year's iPhone XR.
iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max on the other hand will be available in 64GB, 256GB and 512GB models in midnight green, space gray, silver and gold starting at Rs 99,900 and Rs 109,900 respectively.?
The devices will go on sale starting September 20 in the US. Launch dates for the new iPhones in India remains unknown as of now.?
