Apple did it again. The Cupertino giant and the charismatic company behind the much-loved iPhones and Macbooks, now has a new offering. With a cost of $19 (?1,400), Apple will sell you a cleaning cloth for your brand new Macbook Pro.
As is now true for most-things-Apple, you'd have to buy the "Polishing Cloth" worth $19 separately. We wish this were a prank, but Apple really expects you to pay this much for a screen cleaning cloth which you can buy for less than $2 at a general store.

At the Apple event on October 18, the Cupertino-based company also unveiled the new Macbook Pros, M1 Pro and Max chips and the third-generation of AirPods.
Like all-things-Apple, it's unclear what the cloth is made of. Next year, you may expect a new iteration of the cloth which might say "x10 more absorbent than the original Polishing Cloth". Until then, there really is no metric to measure the cloth's efficacy.?
Apple generally advises users to use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean their Apple devices including Macbooks and iPhones. The company also warns against using "abrasive cloths" like towels and paper towels to clean the screen - which may do more harm than good. Regardless, $19 for a cloth with unspecified capabilities is the peak of late-capitalism and a stretch.
