Apple only recently released its iPhone 15 series, but rumours for the next year's iteration are already in full swing. The iPhone 15 Pro introduced an Action Button that replaced the mute switch and adds more customisable functionality to the device.
While people are still getting used to the new iPhone 15 series, a new iPhone 16 rumour is here. It appears that the iPhone 16 series could come with a Capture Button. However, this wouldn't be a physical button but would instead be capacitive, i.e., it will use the iPhone Taptic Engine to simulate a click when pressed.
According to MacRumours, Project Nova will add a Capture Button to the iPhone 16 series. However, this might mean that another component of the iPhone may be moved. The mmWave 5G antenna that is situated beneath the power button on current iPhones is where the Capture Button may appear next year. This means that the mmWave antenna could move beneath the volume buttons.

A new Capture Button that is capacitive in nature might also mean that the iPhone 16 series could come with a capacitive Action Button. This button is expected to stay right above the volume buttons and is dubbed as Project Atlas.
Earlier, this was expected to happen on the iPhone 15 series but was ditched due to design and engineering issues. The new Capture Button is expected to be available on all iPhone 16 models, but nobody seems to know what function it will perform.
