While Bill Gates might have lost his position of being the world's richest person to Amazon's Jeff Bezos, he has added $17 billion to his net worth this year, even after donating over $35 billion to charity. Bill Gate's total wealth is now stacked at $106 billion.

This was first reported by Bloomberg TV, in an interview with Microsoft's principal founder. Bill Gates in a conversation with them stated, "We're not, you know, in some defensive posture where we're mostly in cash, or anything like that. The strategy that's been used on the investments is to be over 60% in equities."
According to CNBC, this is a rather aggressive investment strategy, specifically with the stature of Gates's wealth. Usually, investors play a safer game by investing in places like real-estate and government bonds. According to Bill Gates, he's "bullish" on the US and global businesses.
He further added, "You can make the case that the yields aren't very high but that's true against all asset classes. T-bills, 10-Year are well less than 2%, so there's no obvious thing to beat other investors out there and there's reasons to think absolute returns for the next decade will be less than they have been for the last several decades."
Bill Gates conducts his charitable work through The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The organisation is working on eradicating inequality in health, education and world hunger across the world. They're also funding various projects to help Earth stay greener and healthy with cleaner energy use.
