Climate change is as real as it gets and the dire need to bring it under control has been advocated by influencers time and again. Some of the most active names for this include Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Akon, tech entrepreneurs like Elon Musk, Richard Branson and of course, till recently the world¡¯s richest person, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.
Gates might have given up on his throne of being the wealthiest man alive, yet his ambitions to propagate the knowledge of how mother Earth is suffering and what we as earthlings need to do have not stopped. A recent video by the tech billionaire is the latest example of that. And just to make it easily understandable, Gates has tried to go old school with this, using squishy toys.?

The agenda of the video is to inform the viewer¡¯s that coming up with renewable sources for electricity is not the only way forward to curb climate change. While using solar and wind energy does have a significant impact in reducing carbon emissions, there are other sectors too that need to be focused upon.?
Gates uses a pie chart to show that even though electricity generation is one of the major contributors to carbon emissions, other significant sectors are agriculture, manufacturing and even transportation. He acknowledges that we cannot stop infrastructural or industrial growth, especially in the developing nations as these are basic necessities to serve the growing population. So in order for them to not have an adverse effect on the planet, he calls for innovations in each and every sector, in short, a sustainable way forward.

The video comes as a part of this year¡¯s annual letter, jointly written by Bill and Melinda Gates. The philanthropic couple has focused on several issues plaguing the environment as well as the society norms being followed across the world. Titled ¡°We didn¡¯t see this coming¡±, the letter sheds light on nine different topics that the couple found ¡°surprising¡± in the bygone year.?
Ranging from how Africa is the continent with the youngest population on an average to how data recorded for various fields can be sexist and not shed enough light on an entire gender, the letter is a major eye opener on many levels. The couple has also mentioned how they have planned to act upon each of the issues.?
