Drone maker DJI has unveiled a new compact camera drone globally -- the Mavic Mini. This is the smallest drone created by DJI and while drones in India these days are subject to government regulation, this drone could be exempted from this.?
DJI
DJI Mavic Mini is a portable drone with collapsible propeller arms to reduce its overall form factor. The drone when shut is as big as an iPhone XS Max. Weighing at just 249 grams, the drone, even with its tiny size gets all the bells and whistles of premium drones in the market.?
You get a 3-axis gimbal for capturing smooth videos. The camera aboard the Mavic Mini is a 12-megapixel shooter which is capable of shooting 2.7K videos at 30fps and full-HD videos up to 60fps. The lens is a 24mm shooter to capture picturesque landscapes with ease.
DJI
Users can program the drone to capture videos in four cinematic ways -- Dronie, Rocket, Helix and Circle. The drone locks on to a subject and the gimbal helps in creating cinematic videos. As per DJI's claims, the Mavic Mini can survive for 30 minutes on a single charge
Now as mentioned earlier, the drone weighs just 249 grams. In case you haven't been up-to-date with DGCA's drone norms, a drone weighing less than 250 grams comes under the category of a nano RPA (Remotely Piloted Aircraft).?
DGCA
As per DGCA's website, Nano RPAs are exempt from registration, import licenses as well as NPNT compliance. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that you can only fly the Mavic Mini up to 50 feet, but sadly in enclosed premises only. Even in the US, Mavic Mini doesn't need to be registered with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration).
DJI Mavic Mini is available in the US for a price tag of $400 (approximately Rs 28,000). We don't have any information as of now whether DJI plans to bring the Mavic Mini to India, however, even though it does bring it to the Indian market, would you buy one? Let us know!
