Remember how we earlier explained about the Rs 1 Crore hoverbike in the making and how it could be put to multiple uses. It seems like Dubai police has finally become the first official body to put the the flying bike to use. Though still under the testing phase, the electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) vehicle might be seen in the skies of Dubai soon. Even more importantly, for the kind of surveillance that the world has never seen before.
Hoversurf had already signed a deal with the Dubai Police back in 2017. And now the company has started delivering on it, providing the police force with the first serial production unit of the series 3 of the hoverbike poised to release in 2019. What¡¯s more, the company has already started training the Dubai police officers for riding the hoverbike.
Post the training, the police force plans to bring the hoverbike in action by as soon as 2020. For the same, the force has assigned the training to two crews as of now. In an interview, Brigadier Khalid Nasser Alrazooqi, general director of Dubai Police¡¯s artificial intelligence department mentioned that the eVTOL unit, once set up, will act as the first responder unit for hard to access areas.
Hoversurf
Hoversurf chief operating officer Joseph Segura-Conn mentioned that the Dubai police force has the exclusive rights to order as many units as needed. ¡°They¡¯re going to let us know in the next month or two if they¡¯d like any more ¡ If they would like 30 or 40, we¡¯ll make it happen for them,¡± he said.
The hoverbike is, of course, available for sale for civilians as well. i.e. if you have an extra Rs 1 Crore to spare. That is the cost of the hoverbike in US though. If and when it manages to reach India, make sure to add extra customs duty and like to skyrocket the price even further. You¡¯ll even have to keep a check on the guidelines, provided there aren¡¯t any in India for eVTOLs at the moment. In the US, one can fly the hoverbike without a pilot¡¯s license.

For now, the eVTOL looks good for specific purposes, as can be seen in the case of Dubai Police. A similar use case scenario might include hospitals and their ambulances, provided Hoversurf custom makes them for the use. As for the police force, there can hardly be any escaping from an officer who can fly at will to reach the crime spot. Once in operation, it is sure to look straight out of a sci-fi movie.
