Phones of the future could charge in just one second. In fact, Chinese smartphone behemoth Oppo thinks the time is nearer than ever.?
Phones that charge at extremely fast speeds are now the norm, especially for devices running on Android. With charging speeds touching speeds of 120W and even 150W, Android manufacturers are constantly competing to deliver fast charging speeds.
Not everyone is a fan though! Companies like Samsung and Apple have been shy from embracing super fast charging, for it might harm your battery in the long run and keep overheating it. Even then, there is limited data on whether fast charging is really bad for your phone, but most analysts agree that in the long term, your battery health is impacted.
In conversation with Tech Radar, the head of Oppo's Charging Technology Lab, Edward Tian said that that poor battery life may begin to appear in phones with super fast charging. "Fast charging can result in bigger battery sizes because, to charge faster, you need to use battery cells with a higher C-rate, which leads to lower energy density," Tian told Tech Radar.

Oppo unveiled 150W fast charging earlier this year, and the tech was also used in OnePlus 10T. These devices charge fully in less than 15 minutes.?
Edward Tian added that phones may be fully charged in just one second if fast charging technology is pushed further. It's not that simple though, he acknowledged. A lot of factors come into play, as Tian said, including safety, charging temperature, battery lifespan, and more.

Tian also had some advice for people who charge their phones too often. Do not leave your devices at 0% or 100% for too long.
