The giant X logo atop Twitter's San Francisco headquarters in San Francisco is now gone. The city's building department registered 24 complaints against the company's X logo on its building on Market Street after neighbours complained about intrusive lights.
Elon Musk acquired Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion and recently announced that the firm would remain in San Francisco despite the city's recent "doom spiral, with one company after another left or leaving."?"Beautiful San Francisco, though others forsake you, we will always be your friend," Musk wrote at that time.
However, the X logo didn't stay up for long. "This morning, building inspectors observed the structure being dismantled," a spokesperson from the city Department of Building Inspection said by email on Monday, Reuters reported. "The property owner will be assessed fees for the unpermitted installation of the illuminated structure."

Over the weekend, a Department of Building Inspection inspector wrote in a report that company representatives denied roof access twice to city officials who wanted to inspect the logo. One representative apparently told the inspector that the sign was temporary.
