Instagram recently announced that its Channels feature for broadcasting messages was rolling out to users globally. Earlier, this feature was limited to a select few creators and users, and Instagram began testing Channels this February.
Through Channels, users are able to share various forms of content like text, video, and photos with their subscribed followers in a broadcasting fashion.?
The feature was rolled out to all users around the world on June 15, as Meta noted in a blog post. Once creators have access to this feature, they can share messages with their followers. Mind you, only creators are able to send messages in broadcast channels.
Followers who opt to get updates from certain channels will get notified whenever the creator posts something, but all Instagram users will have access to the channel. Followers of channels may exit the channel or mute notifications whenever they want, just how groups work.
How can you create broadcast channels on the Instagram app on Android and iOS as a creator? Follow these steps.
Users may join the broadcast channel by clicking on the link shared by the creator or through their Instagram page. Once users click on "Join broadcast channel," users will receive regular updates from the creator.
Followers will also be able to participate in the channel via polls and reactions, but the ability to send messages will solely be exercised by the channel creator.?
