While Gigabit speeds have been around in certain areas of the country since 2011, it¡¯s the first time any Indian internet service provider has launched such a connection across an entire city.?
ACT Fibernet uses optical fiber networks, which it claims offers a connection speed 400 times faster than the average 2.5 megabits per second available in India. The service is being made available starting at Rs 5,999 per month with 1TB monthly FUP (download limit).
¡°With our citizens and the government moving towards the Digital India movement, high speed internet is the need of the hour, Bala Malladi, CEO of ACT Fibernet, said. He also believes that the company¡¯s service will help the state government work towards its goal of connecting all of its 23 million Telangana residents to the Internet by 2018.?
ACT¡¯s is also planning to launch its 1 Gbps broadband service in 10 other cities soon, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Eluru, Guntur, Nellore, Tirupati, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam.
