India has managed to grow the average speed of the internet year after year and last month (August 2021) it was able to achieve an average speed of 62.45 Mbps -- the highest India has ever seen to date.

This is based on the Speedtest data from across the world every month that¡¯s collected when millions of users test their internet connection and speeds on their devices. The data is then used based on the geographic location to better understand the growth or drop in internet speeds in that nation.
To put this into perspective, India had a maximum download speed of 34.07Mbps in September 2019. That¡¯s considerable growth in two years. As per Ookla, this puts India on the 68th position on the Global Index Report in terms of fixed broadband speeds for August 2021.
India also saw a slight increase in the average mobile internet speeds -- from 17.77Mbps to 17.96Mbps. However, despite this, it dropped in the global ranking from a position of 122 to 126. This was because nations like Uzbekistan, Columbia, Belarus and C?te d'Ivoire managed to get better average mobile internet speeds.?
According to the Global Speedtest Index in August, the nations that are on top in terms of mobile and fixed broadband are the United Arab Emirates and Singapore with an average download speed of 195.2Mbps and 262.20Mbps respectively.?

When looking at nations with a positively growing mobile and broadband internet speed, Cuba and Liberia, as well as the Marshall Islands have shown the highest growth in the month of August 2021.
