The Intel 10th Generation Comet Lake processors come with a 'U' and 'Y' branding in the end are different from the recently unveiled 10th Generation Ice Lake Processors that were recently unveiled with the 'G' branding that focussed on the graphical prowess of those processors.
The processor model number will start with the number 10- denoting the 10th generation and ends with either U or Y. The U branding is for processors designed for notebooks whereas the Y branding is specifically targeting slimmer form factor laptops and ultrabooks, providing superior performance and battery life while keeping the thermals low.
The processors are developed in a 14nm process as opposed to a 10nm process on the Ice Lake. The Ice Lake processors focussed primarily on the graphical performance, along with the standard processor performance.?

The processors will be available in Core i3 (dual core/four threads up to 4.1GHz), Core i5 (quad core, eight threads, up to 4.2GHz) and Core i7 (quad/hexa core with eight/twelve threads up to 4.9GHz) tiers with up to 12MB cache.?
For memory, the processors will support upto DDR4 memory. In the graphics department, the Comet Lake processors get the conventional UHD Graphics, as opposed to the Iris Pro graphics seen on the Ice Lake Processors.
The processors will also get support for the newest Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) for faster internet speeds and more stable connectivity. The processors also get support for up to 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports.
According to Intel, The new 10th Gen Intel Core processors are able to deliver up to 16% overall performance gains and over 41% better productivity than the previous generation Intel processors, in day-to-day tasks like working on spreadsheets, documents etc.?
The new 10th Generation Intel Comet Lake processors will soon be seen on laptops by OEMs such as Asus, Acer, Lenovo, Dell etc. across the globe.
