Masturbation is one topic people are really uncomfortable talking about openly. Studies in the past have proven how beneficial masturbation can be if done in moderation, both for males and females.?
Even though it is hidden under a dark veil of a taboo (which it shouldn't), many people choose to become outlaws and take matters into their own hands, literally. This taboo isn't just limited to a country like India, but across various other countries across the globe. And a health insurance company created quite a sensation in Germany by just a Facebook post.
Barmer, on its Facebook page shared a post with an image of a hand alongside a green vibrator. The caption in German, when roughly translated states -- 'Masturbation helps to fall asleep. If you can't sleep again, just put your hand on yourself or get a toy to it, then sleep comes all by itself.'
People were definitely baffled with such a bold post. It attracted over 1800 comments within a short span of time. When German Publication Spiegel contacted the brand seeking answers regarding the post, Barmer spokesperson Daniel Freudenreich confirmed that the post was indeed intentional.
He further added stating that there are topics that are often kept a secret even though it concerns a majority of the population, and how anything related to our sex life is among one such topic.
While the post might seem focusing on normalising masturbation, it also sheds light on another crucial problem people across the world are facing these days: Insomnia.
To the uninitiated, insomnia is a condition where?people are unable to sleep, no matter how hard one tries. Common causes for insomnia include stress in work-personal life or physical-emotional discomfort.?
While studies have tried to link masturbation just before sleeping with a more enhanced quality of sleep immediately after, you won't really find out if it really works out unless you gave it a try.
