Is it the battle of Big Tech? You bet it is!?Microsoft recently threw some punches at fellow tech monopolist Apple, claiming that the Tim Cook-led company will only get worse if its wings aren't clipped now.
In an amicus brief supporting Epic Games in its appeal against Apple's anti-competition practices, Microsoft that said Apple's "potential antitrust issues stretch far beyond gaming."
The original filing by Epic claimed that "Apple unlawfully maintains its monopolies in the iOS app distribution and in-app payment solutions markets by expressly excluding all competitors." During the trial, American Judge Gonzales Roberts said perceived the market differently than definitions put forward by Epic, a move that seemed to have benefited Apple.

Now, Microsoft has added its own "unique - and balanced - perspective to the legal, economic, and technologic issues this case implicates."
Microsoft does pretty much everything Apple does too. In fact, Apple is Microsoft's biggest competitor in the computer OS market. The company, led by Satya Nadella referred to Apple's "extraordinary gatekeeper power."
The company did not flinch words, saying that if the ruling against Epic is upheld, "innovation will suffer" and protect Apple from "antitrust scrutiny."

Apple's response to the appeal will begin in March, Apple Insider reported. The original lawsuit brought by Epic Games against Apple in August 2020 related to Apple's practices in the iOS App Store that preferred its own payment methods. In 2021, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled that Apple must let developers add links and buttons to allow external payments.
