NASA is known to mesmerize astronomy enthusiasts with several posts of cosmic wonders on its social media accounts. In yet another, the US space agency has now shared a video of two galaxies intertwined with each other.
Posting the video on Instagram recently, NASA¡¯s Hubble Space Telescope account wrote "galaxies appear to be locked in a cosmic dance." As per the post, the video shows a view of NGC 3314A and NGC 3314B, two galaxies in the constellation Hydra.
Interestingly, even though the galaxies seem to be completely intertwined, NASA says that they are in fact separated by ¡°tens of millions of light-years.¡± Among the two, one of the galaxies is closer to the Earth than the other.
The mesmerizing video has managed to garner around 1 lakh views on the platform since its upload on Monday. It is now being viral as the ¡°cosmic dance¡±, with users expressing their excitement in comments.
This is not the first time that the US space agency enthralled its audience through such cosmic marvels. Earlier this month, NASA¡¯s Chandra X-ray Observatory shared a stunning celestial image showing two supermassive black holes merging.
Around the same time, NASA also shared an amazing image of snow-covered Himalayan mountains, as taken from the International Space Station.
None, however, seem to be as impressive as the new time-lapse video shared by NASA capturing 22-years of our Sun¡¯s movement. The video was made through the recorded observations of the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory which launched on December 2, 1995.
