While smartphones are getting faster and more feature-loaded day by day, they're also getting more battery hungry every day. Even with Qualcomm's QuickCharge or OnePlus's proprietary WARP charging, the phone still takes a considerable amount of time to fully juice up.
However with this upcoming advancement in battery-tech, slow charging speeds will be a thing of the past.?

According to the reliable leakster Evan Blass AKA @evleaks, Samsung could be working on a battery tech that would chuck the lithium ion tech that is used in smartphones today with graphene. The leakster has further stated that the phones could be capable of a full charge in under a half-hour. However, Samsung is still faced with a challenge to raise the capacities while lowering production costs. The device is expected to launch in 2020-2021.
To the uninitiated, graphene is a form of carbon that is used to manufacture lightweight, thin, and flexible electric/photonics circuits, solar cells, among other things. According to researchers, implementation of graphene in smartphone's batteries could considerably impact the way the smartphone consumes, stores as well as recharges its energy, with considerably faster charging speeds than the conventional lithium ion cells.
Samsung has been working with using graphene since quite some time now. In 2017, Samsung had revealed graphene's prowess in energy storage and charging speeds with a graphene ball, which as per Samsung, could juice up five times faster than a conventional lithium-ion batteries.
Graphene batteries, if actually became a thing, it could definitely give OnePlus's WARP charging a tough competition. We could expect the device to come loaded on future Galaxy S and Note devices, probably the S12 and Note 12 respectively. We just hope it performs as advertised and doesn't go 'kaboom' like the Galaxy Note 7, which severely impacted the brand's reputation globally.?
