It is really annoying to bend all the way to wear shoes all the time. Sure, there are some ways people have tried to avoid this, either by wearing slip-on shoes or by shoving the shoe in and waiting for it to get adjusted over time.?
But both don¡¯t offer the best comfort while inserting the foot in, and eventually, you need to insert your finger to adjust the fit.
However, Nike has decided to get rid of this discomfort for us, with its new FlyEase shoes that only need you to step into them to wear them. The Nike shoe literally opens up by holding the heel of the shoe with the other leg to help you get your feet out.
Now, this looks truly sick but what¡¯s sicker is the engineering behind this. The way it¡¯s able to do this is with the help of a bi-stage hinge and a midsole tensioner. This helps in retaining the shape of the shoe while also providing flexibility to open it like a Koenigsegg hypercar.?
The shoe easily opens with the kickstand heel that allows it to open with ease. The shoe can be worn for athletic activities or even for casual wear.?
The shoe has been designed keeping people with back issues or with disabilities or are just lazy enough to tie shoe laces in general. While this isn¡¯t the first time Nike has developed shoes of non-tying nature -- we remember the ¡®Back to the Future¡¯ shoes that tied as you stepped in them, they did come for a considerable price and also, they wouldn¡¯t tie or untie if the battery died. These however can function without any charge.
The shoe doesn¡¯t come cheap as Nike is selling them for $120 a pair which is approximately Rs 14,000. One thing that surely concerns me is the durability of the mechanism as a lot is hanging on the midsole tensioner, if something were to happen to them over time, or if it snapped the shoe won¡¯t fit as comfortably as you want it to.?
