Our children reveal to us the shape of the future, for it is in their hands that it will be shaped. And as far as India is concerned, the future seems to be in safe hands.?
This is exemplified by the inspiring story of two Class 9 students from Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Guru Prasad and Vishal, who took meaningful action for their differently-abled peers.

During a field trip to a school for the blind, Guru Prasad and Vishal observed the daily struggles faced by visually impaired and hearing-impaired individuals.?
They saw the difficulties these students encountered while travelling, taking photos, or even navigating simple obstacles.
Rather than merely feeling sympathy, Guru Prasad and Vishal chose to make a tangible difference.
They set out to create a sensor-equipped shoe designed to enhance the safety and mobility of visually impaired people.
Their innovation includes a device embedded in the shoe that detects obstacles within 30 cm and alerts the wearer through sound and vibration.?
This feature ensures that those with hearing impairments can be alerted through vibration, while those with visual impairments can be alerted with sound.

The shoe's detection range can be adjusted up to 300 cm and it is rechargeable like a mobile phone.?
Currently priced at Rs 700, the students plan to seek government support to provide the shoes free of charge once fully developed.
Their sensory shoe was presented at the 31st National Children¡¯s Science Conference and showcased at the Science Pavilion of a book festival in Thanjavur, under the theme "Tools for the Blind."
In a world where empathy often falls short, Guru Prasad and Vishal's innovative approach stands as a testament to how compassion can be transformed into actionable solutions. Their work not only addresses immediate needs but also inspires others to use their skills and creativity to make a positive impact on society.
