2020 was a sad year for mobile gamers in India when Indian authorities decided to take down the beloved Battle Royale game,?PUBG Mobile,?along with other Chinese apps like TikTok, CamScanner and ShareIT.
However, recently we heard the news about the game re-launching in India this year, without Tencent holding user data, and that definitely made mobile gamers jump with glee. But it looks like it will take some more time for this dream to come true as the game¡¯s relaunch could be pushed to March 2021.
PUBG Mobile officials have been trying to arrange a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) since the past month, but they haven¡¯t gotten a chance to interact with them.
¡°We don¡¯t see the game making a comeback in India for the next few months, at least not before March 2021. It¡¯s unfortunate but everyone has to live with it,¡± sources told InsideSport.
The game was pulled down from the Indian version of the Play Store on the grounds of it (Tencent) threatening India¡¯s sovereignty and national security by sharing confidential user data with other nations, amidst tensions at the Indo-China border.?
With this, PUBG Corporation pulled the rights for the game from China¡¯s Tencent and then announced that it is teaming up with Microsoft to bring the game back to our smartphones in India.?
PUBG had also announced that it plans on investing $100 million in its most profitable markets to help PUBG Mobile grow, while also encouraging players to embrace gaming, esports, game streaming etc.?
While PUBG Mobile is desperate to enter the Indian market again, other game developers are jumping at the opportunity created by its absence. We¡¯ve already seen the launch of FAU-G and the crazy response the game received in its pre-registration phase, with over a million registrations in a matter of hours.?
