A driverless electric vehicle was recently stopped by the police, only for it to attempt running away not much later. Yep, this EV did not want to face the music and decided to escape instead, or so it seems!
In a clip from San Francisco that is now going viral, an electric vehicle (Chevrolet) was stopped by police officers. The car in question was stopped by the police because its headlights were not on despite it being nighttime.
The video was first shared on Instagram on April 2, in which an officer can be heard saying "there's nobody in it."

As soon as the police officer walked back to his car, the electric vehicle tried to drive away before stopping a few metres away. It appears that the electric vehicle decided that the traffic stop was over and deemed it best to drive away. Or may be it was escaping. Police officers don't think so, though.
Turns out, the vehicle first stopped to acknowledge the police vehicle, then went a bit further to find a safer spot for the car to park itself.
According to Ars Technica, Cruise claims to have fixed whatever was causing the vehicle to drive without its headlights at night. It seems that the car hasn't received a ticket for the incident.

In 2015, a similar incident happened when a Google self-driving car was stopped in California for going 39 km/h in a 56 km/h zone. No ticket was issued in this case either, for the officer felt no law was broken.
