We have smart devices everywhere, helping our lives get simpler -- From fitness bands to smart speakers -- however, what if I told you that you now also have a smart rosary??
The Vatican
The Vatican has launched an electronic rosary or eRosary to help tech-savvy teenagers to connect stay in touch with their spiritually with the help of technology.
The eRosary pairs with an Android or iOS smartphone. It is made of 10 consecutive black agate and hematite rosary beads, along with data-storing "smart cross". The cross has touch sensors so when someone makes the sign of a cross on it, the eRosary gets activated.
Once you've activated the eRosary, you have the option to either pray a standard rosary or a thematic rosary. The latter will get updated throughout the year. What's convenient is that eRosary app will keep a track of all your prayers, so that the prayer can be in sync with the upcoming chapters.
Apart from helping you pray, the bracelet also has health- tracking features like a regular smart and with step tracking and goal setting in the app.?
According to the Vatican, the device is a part of the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network that takes the help of technology to teach people how to pray the rosary for peace in the world. The bracelet is priced at $110 or approximately Rs 7,500.?
This isn't the first time the Vatican is making use of technology to bring awareness of its religion to the masses.
Last year, the Vatican launched a game called?Follow JC?Go (where JC stands for Jesus Christ), that used Pokemon Go-like AR gameplay where players encounter biblical saints and avatars of the Mother Mary instead of Pok¨¦mon.?
Players here would answer the saint's questions in order to add them to your "evangelisation team" instead of fighting them. Players would visit Churches and other Holy places to grab rewards and upgrades.
