The beastly Nokia 3310?was a legend of our childhoods. You know the one I¡¯m talking about, with the adamantiun skeleton, rapid healing, and¡ oh wait that¡¯s Wolverine.
Well, the phone was just about as durable anyway. So what happens when you zap it with a mini lightning bolt?
That¡¯s what one YouTube channel by the name of kreosan looked to uncover. The channel is basically a mashup of science experiments from someone that loves electricity as much as Nikola Tesla did.?
Kreosan wanted to see which would win an endurance test where they were being zapped with one million volts; a modern-day smartphone or the original Nokia 3310. As I¡¯m sure you¡¯re aware, you don¡¯t come into contact with anything close to a million volts in your daily use of plug points or household appliances.
In fact, at a high enough current, that¡¯s the sort of voltage that could instantly char your skin and fry your internal organs. Having said that, stun guns have voltages in the millions, but they¡¯re designed not to output a current that can kill, so the YouTube here was safe.
In the test, it¡¯s pretty obvious the smartphone was immediately knocked out by the high-voltage electricity. Heck, you¡¯ve seen what simple fluctuations at home can do and this was a dedicated onslaught. The sensors failed, the touchscreen became inoperable, the works.?
Apparently, not one tiny bit. Well, except to apparently start dialling by itself. Aside from that however, the impressive tank of a device just kept on chugging. Further proof of the meme-tastic phone¡¯s clear superiority.
