However, there are some who are still fixated on TikTok. And now hackers have made the most of this desperation to lure people and getting their devices infected with malware instead.?
Reports have surfaced that reveal that hackers are sending phishing links to people, telling them that ¡®TikTok¡¯ is available in India as ¡®TikTok Pro¡¯. These links are being shared through WhatsApp and SMS with a message that states, ¡°Enjoy Tiktok video and create creative videos once again. Now TikTok is only available in (TikTok Pro) then download from below.¡±
Once someone clicks on the link it allows for an APK file to get downloaded on the device. When a user instals the app on the phone, the icon of TikTok appears on the home screen, just like the real deal.?
While opening the app, it asks for device permissions however, after that the app does nothing. It doesn¡¯t function but by that time the damage is done. By granting access the device app access to the device which can be used to steal confidential data from the phone.
People on Twitter have complained about such messages coming to their devices too. It is strongly advised that you shouldn¡¯t click on such links, let alone download and install the files. The app isn¡¯t from PlayStore and third-party sources cannot be trusted.?
