TikTok Ban: Roposo, Chingari & Mitron Are Top Apps On Google And Apple App Store
After TikTok ban in India, Roposo, Chingari and Mitron have surged in popularity
The app space in India is truly shaken after authorities ordered for 59 Chinese apps to be banned from use in India.
And in this rather long list of apps, one app that has been on the radar for quite a while is TikTok.
Ever since #BoycottChina and the backlash by CarryMinati, TikTok's popularity has taken a hit and this led several other app developers from India to create apps to offer a worthy alternative to content creators.
And post the Chinese app's ban, three such apps have risen to the occasion coming on top in download charts on the app stores -- Roposo, Chingari and Mitron.
Roposo App
Roposo has claimed the top spot in ¡®Free Apps¡¯ list on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, touting itself as the largest TikTok alternative with a user base of over 65 million in India.
Roposo app claims the top spot in Entertainment apps on Apple app store too with a 4.5 rating (on Google Play Store as well as App Store). The App has crossed 50 million downloads on Google Play Store.
Chingari App
Chingari is in the top spot, under the social media category with a 4.1-star rating, while also being ranked number 2 under the ¡®Top Free Apps¡¯ category on the Apple App Store.
On the Google Play Store, Chingari app¡¯s rating is 4.5 star and has registered more than 5 million downloads. Chingari is ranked number 2 under the ¡®Top Free¡¯ apps category on Google Play Store.
Mitron App
Mitron app, on the other hand, is at number 4 in the ¡®Top Free Apps¡¯ category on the Apple App Store with a 4.5-star rating while being categorised at number 2 social media networking app.
On the Play Store, Mitron app is at number 4 in the ¡®Top Free¡¯ apps section with over 10 million downloads and an average rating of 4.5 stars.
Mitron has been in the news for a few weeks now. It became the talk of the down after TikTok ratings plummeted by people bombarding the app with negative reviews (after CarryMinati¡¯s TikTok-hate video was pulled down by YouTube). Mitron managed to get lakhs of downloads in a very short amount of time.
However, not soon after that, it was been surrounded by a ton of controversy, with Pakistani developers claiming that Mitron was originally made in Pakistan and that the Mitron developer bought the code from them.
This eventually led to the app being pulled down from the Google Play Store due to policy violation and then coming back again with an app that was built from scratch.
It'll be interesting to see the what next short video platform will Indians prefer watching content on.
