TikTok Alternative Chingari App Sees 1 Lakh Downloads Per Hour On Monday
The TikTok alternative has crossed 25 lakh downloads recently and 1 million download
Before its ongoing ban in india, TikTok has faced the threat of being shut down in the country repeatedly.
Among such scares, several apps came up with the similar theme, offering their users a similar video sharing experience.
There was only one major difference between these and TikTok. These were created in India.
India's Chingari app is one of these. Having started as TikTok¡¯s competition earlier, Chingari app has now seen a sudden surge in views and downloads since the ban on TikTok and 58 other Chinese apps was announced on Monday.
Chingari app download statistics
The TikTok alternative has crossed 25 lakh downloads recently and 1 million downloads in total on the Google Play Store. The Chingari app's co-founder Sumit Ghosh recently took to Twitter to share an image of the active users on the app - a whopping 10 lakh views per 30 minutes.
In addition, Ghosh also shared that Chingari had as many as 1 lakh downloads per hour last night when the ban was announced. With this, the app enjoyed 26 million views on videos in the entire day of Monday.
The sudden surge of users even caused the app's servers to crash on the night for a while, but were back to normal a few hours later.
Chingari app journey ahead
The StreamView app analytics data shared by Ghosh confirms the simultaneous growth of Chingari as TikTok takes a hit on both the platforms in India.
As of now, Chingari app has a cool 4.7 star rating out of 5 on Google Play Store. This is the first time that the app has enjoyed as many downloads, since its inception in November on the Google Play Store back in November 2018. The app was founded by two Bengaluru-based programmers, Biswatma Nayak and Sumit Ghosh.
